Year 7 in Arqueopinto
We are back from a great day in Arqueopinto. It was a wonderful day out with lots of activities and workshops where you did experience things I have been explaining to you in the first and second term. Our monitor did explain very well the evolution of settlements, as we did in Geography last term and other issues about different tribes and groups of people such as Celts, Iberians and Romans, as we did in History too. He gave us incredible information about the evolution of people and cultures, the same as María did in "Conocimiento del medio". Over all I think the activity we enjoyed quite a lot was watching and practicing the war techniques of Romans and when we learnt and saw the evolution of us all (humans) in this planet since 4.000.000 millions of years ago until nowadays. Here you have some pictures of our day out.

Good news for the environment and you ;-)
There are good news for students of year 8 and any other student from 9, 10 and 11.
Antena 3 TV is running an event called "te toca". If you remember in year 8 we have been talking about non-renewable and renewable sources of energy, and the problems and solutions to the environment. This is a good chance to be creative and give your best ideas to help the environment...and get some important prizes too. If you are interested , have a look to this link , they explain you very well what you need to do and the deadlines. Be careful because it started already and it will not last long.

World Water Day 22/03/2012
Today is the "World Water Day". March 22 is World Water Day, as you know, there are few things more important than clean, safe water. But corporate control of drinking water, the growth of the bottled water industry, pollution from mining companies and fracking projects, and water shortages from droughts and over-extractions are all part of a growing global water crisis. In Spain we are suffering from the biggest drought ever and we are at risk of suffering more about this issue in the near future.
But you can make a difference... There are many things that we all could do to reduce the use of water and protect the environment and future generations. Watch the following couple of videos, they will explain quite well the actual situation and some ideas to protect us all and this very important and basic resource.

I am including some useful webpages on here too. But you can revise using all the information I did provide during the lessons and the revision set created that I handed in to you in the last lesson to help you with this important event of the IGCSE.

Lipdub Los Llanos with Montessori School Fresnos Mataespesa
This video is about a great experience and team work of many people, working very hard, during many days and hours. They want to share it with us all. Congratulations for the hard work and excellent outcome! The video looks brilliant! Well done everybody!
Earth Hour 2012
We are talking about different physical and human geography issues through key stage 3 and 4, and as geographers and human beings we need to pay attention to our environment and look after it. Today's video is going to explain us a global movement that began a few years ago and we could all do as a gesture to show that we really care about the environment, other people and ourselves. Do not forget that the "earth hour" should be something to be done not just one day for an hour. Watch and share!!!

Energy & Resources (Year 8s)
Dear 8s,
We just finished the unit about "energy and resources". here you have a video (in Spanish) about our "environmental foot print" or impact of the human activities related with use of energy and the environment. You can have a look to the video and the webpage to understand our impact into the environment in many activities that we do in our normal life. And you could learn what kind of things we all could do to reduce that impact and improve the quality of life in the whole planet.

To my tutor group 9B. PSHE about Human Rights (Invisible Children KONY 2012)
We are talking about Human Rights in PSHE this term. This video could be interesting to understand how lucky we are living in a developed country with a stable democracy. Sometimes we do not know what to do to help other people in other places, and we do not really know what is going on in other places too. From my point of view it is very sad and a contradiction as we live in a globalised planet and information flows quickly from one corner to another around the world.... but it seems that not all the information is provided with the same level of importance through the media.
Well, the following video is a combination of "action and reaction" of people to all these things. It will show what is going on in another part of the planet (if it was happening just around us it will be stopped straight away) and the second important issue is...we have the tools nowadays to at least try to resolve this problem and save many people's lives. Do you accept the challenge? Well, if you have 29 minutes and 59 seconds click HERE or in the picture. WATCH and SHARE.
