EARTH HOUR 2019

We are talking about different physical and human geography issues through key stage 3 and 4, and as geographers and human beings we need to pay attention to our environment and look after it.

Like every year I like to post information about "Earth hour" on here. Today's video is going to explain this global movement that began a few years ago and we could all do as a gesture to show that we really care about the environment, other people and ourselves.

Do not forget that the "earth hour" should be something to be done not just one day for an hour. Watch and share before the end of March!!!

GLOBAL STRIKE FOR FUTURE, Years 10,11,12,13 (key stage 4 and 5)

Thousands of young climate change activists in at least 71 countries will skip school on Friday 15th March in what may be one of the biggest environmental protests in history.

“We are the voiceless future of humanity. Now we will make our voices heard. On 15 March, we will protest on every continent”

At Montessori we do not want our pupils to strike but we are happy for them to act against climate change.

ACTIVITY
The Year 11s have organised a no car day in school on Friday 15th.

This means that all pupils, parents and teachers are encouraged to come to school either walking or on public transport.

Our year 11 activists will be at the school gate to collect donations /fines from all those who do arrive by private car and from any other willing givers.

The money collected will go to a charity* supporting the protection of our planet. *(see logo)

We encourage all our pupils and parents to participate fully in this initiative!!!
