Welcome to....... (Project & Presentation year 9)

"Welcome to... " it is the title of the project about tourism this term. You must follow the instructions I gave to you in our last lesson. Here you have a quick reminder.
Basic information to get started

- You will need to decide which place you want to work about.
- Write the names of all members in a paper and write the information they will be working with and bringing into every lesson.
- Individual people on each group could be penalised if they do not bring information, talk loud or/and walk around the classroom.
Basic information to run the project (at least this information MUST be included)

Location & flag (maps and pictures)
Physical features (maps and information about physical aspects)
Ways of transport (roads, airports, ports, railways, metro, etc supported
with visual information like pictures, transport maps, etc)
Accomodation (B&B, Hotels, Hostels, Backpackers, Motels, etc)
Food (typical food, and restaurants)
Things you could do there (outdoor activities, beach, mountains, shopping etc)
Flora and fauna (vegetation and animals)
Type(s) of tourism (sun & beach, cultural, food, relax, etc)
Why is so important to enjoy a holiday in “your place”? Why is
it different there? Why should people go and visit?
Includes as many pictures as you can and create a slogan. Make it catchy!.

Deadline and day of presentations

ALL GROUPS from all year 9 (A , B and C) will do the presentation the same day (7/06/12). Each group will use 10 minutes of the lesson to explain their projects.

Geography IGCSE

Dear year 11s,

Just a quick advice as you are about to go through the last IGCSE geography paper but you have many other subjects to go through still, so it will be best if you concentrate on one thing at a time. If you have...let's say, an English paper coming up next....then concentrate on that one. Then move on to the next. Don't ever look at the "big picture" because that is when it becomes overwhelming. Just take it one step at a time and then move through each thing as they come. Best wishes and good luck. I am sure you will do all fine in IGCSE Geography and you could always have a second try in November if it is needed ;-)

CuentaCuentos in Montessori Fresnos with Year 7s

We just hope you enjoyed the special lesson today brought to you by "Chan Lee". We have learnt an important lesson when we were playing, singing, dancing and makings jokes...that lesson was the importance of reading books.

It is how we discover new things. Reading is vital in developing a good self image.

Being able to read is a crucial skill in being able to function in today's society. It is important because it develops the mind and develops the imagination.

A person who knows how to read can educate themselves in any area of life they are interested in.

Non readers or poor readers often have low opinions of themselves and their abilities. They feel isolated and behaviour problems can surface. As we live in an age overflowing with information, reading is the main way to take advantage of it.

"Reading, like no other medium, can transform your life in a flash, and you never know which book, at which time in your life, might be the one that rocks your world and inspires you to grow in ways you never thought possible."  --- Burke Hedges.

Montessori School Mataespesa in the Olympics (Collado Villalba)

Good luck to everybody in the Olympics (Collado Villalba). Year 9s and 8s today....and year 7s tomorrow. I am sure you will give your best and you will enjoy yourselves during this competition. Fair play everybody and enjoy!

Project & Presentation Year 7s

We have a few lessons left before the end of this last term. As I explained to you in the lesson, we will follow the example of "Exploring UK" to work in our project about "Exploring Spain". In every lesson you will need to bring information from home about Spain using the same issue that we will find about UK .
(for example: 5.1 Your Island home, you will need to look for similar information about Spain (Iberian peninsula) Physical geography, physical maps of Spain, mountains, rivers, data and pictures related with these issues).
This is a great opportunity to show me different skills (research, organisational, interpersonal) and to become a teacher in your presentation. Do not forget to include all issues I have been asking you to cover. (eg. physical geography such as weather, climate, relief, mountain, rivers, valleys, etc...and human geography such as population, economy, politics, regions, etc)

You are going to be working as a team, so it is expected everybody working well, bringing information and following teacher's advice and instructions.

The presentations for all year 7s will be in June (12/06/12) and each team will have 10 minutes to develop it all.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Changes in Year 9s test about TOURISM

We have a special event next Wednesday (16 / 05 / 12). You have been organising teams for the "Olympics", a competition to be hold in Villalba. For that reason our test about TOURISM should be changed and moved to the following lesson. So it means we will do the TEST about TOURISM on Thursday (17 / 05 / 12 ). I do not want to hear any complaint about the new day, as it was caused by reasons out of my control. Thank you and good luck!
